I am too old to be Data Analyst?
I believe that old is a relative concept, as we could say we are too old to play with toy blocks when we just turn 10 years old, but actually nothing stops us. With this analogy, I want to tell you that learning a high-demand skill like data analytics or whether you are too old to become a Data Analyst will require shifting your mindset and realising you are up to becoming one.
Data Analytics is a science that creates hypotheses based on data or other information in a different way, and if you have 10, 20 or even more years in different industries or in a specific field, this could be a great advantage on your side, as you will be a unique talent as a data analyst. For example, being a water engineer who works on the field for many years, this will bring you a unique perspective in doing trends analysis, for example, on water demand, sensor information analysis, to just name a few.
This is why if you work in other industries and now want to shift into data analysis, you’ll have many chances to become a unicorn in the industry, providing unique insights that someone would need years to familiarise themselves with.
Critical thinking is a practice you’ve been developing for many years. By bringing those unique questions, you’ll drive yourself to look at insights that have never been analysed before.
If you feel like you’re falling behind in data analysis, we can help. Joining one of our training programmes or attending one of our free webinars held twice a month is a great way to catch up!
So, the answer is no. You’re not too old to be a data analyst, either now or in the next ten years. Good luck on your journey!
